Summer may be long gone, but that doesn't mean the interior of your home can't reflect the warm shades of the season. Many homeowners prefer to dress their home designs up with coastal colors to add a vibrant element to their space that's both relaxing and playful.
If you want to transform your home into a quaint coastal cottage, try one of these beachy color combinations
1. Ocean blues and greens
Coastal Living magazine suggested applying various shades of blue and green to your home. Experiment with a pale sea-green on the walls of one of your rooms and complement it with a deep, bright shade of blue on the trims of your doors and windows.
"This pale aqua green is like the ocean when it's so clear you can see the sand through the water. It reminds me of holidays and sunshine and how calm you feel when you sit on the shore and watch the waves breaking," interior designer Jennifer Garrigues told House Beautiful magazine.
You can also include white accessories, such as a coffee table, if you're painting your living room. The combination of these hues is reminiscent of the ocean and blue-skied summer days, establishing an inviting, nature-inspired ambiance.
2. Sandy browns and beiges
Remember the sensation of the warm sand between your toes on a sunny beach day? Make your room design exude this very feeling of calm relaxation by incorporating sandy colors into your space. Start by laying down a shade of taupe to set the tone for your bolder colors. Use creamy white on your trimmings and for your furniture pieces.
Finish off the beach side look with undertones of "Florida pink," which is described by many interior designers as a darker pink that contributes warmth to a room while representing the sunny Florida summers.
"I like the warmth and cheeriness of this really deep raspberry, almost the color of a pink Corvette. It has that nice old Florida look, before everyone went beige. You need an intense color down here to absorb the light," designer Gary McBournie said to House Beautiful.
3. Dramatic sunset oranges and yellows
There's nothing more beautiful than the setting sun over the ocean. The array of breathtaking yellows, oranges, golds and pinks are perfect for any room within a beachy home design. Coastal Living recommended going with a bold mandarin shade to highlight the space's architecture and furniture. Such a bright hue will also call attention to your hardwood flooring.
Then add salmon and gold accessories for a balance of cheerful and soothing vibes.
